Distinctive Date Ideas

A list of unusual, interesting, fun ideas to try!

1. Have An Extravagant Brunch:

Get dressed and head out to have a lovely breakfast with your significant other. Fabulous pancakes, decadent waffles and poached eggs await you as boutique hotels often have a brilliant brunch. A bit of surreptitious googling should set you on the right track. Thick white linen napkins and a lovely spread are a magnificent way to start the day with your significant other – and then you can either head home, or take a walk.

2. Head To An Art Gallery On A Saturday Afternoon:

You’ll learn a lot about the person you’re standing next to if you go and check out art together. Plus it gives you something so much more stimulating to talk about than the last episode of Game of Thrones!

3. Bring Your Favourite Book & Read The First Chapter Aloud:

Again, a person’s choice in books can say a lot about them. What books will they bring? Lolita? The kite runner? War & peace? I can barely stand the suspense…

Pottery class? Salsa lessons? Hiring a moped & driving out into the town? Who knows what surprises it will bring, but it’s definitely nice to share an experience that is new to both of you!

5. Random Restaurant Date:

Search your favourite food site for restaurants in your area, close your eyes, roll your mouse and randomly point at the screen. Just like the mystery blind date, you never know how it’ll go – it could be a hidden treasure or a total health hazard, but not knowing is also part of the fun, isn’t it?

6. The “Sunday Crossword” Date:

Bonus: intellectual stimulation, nerd points, and you get to find out how clever they really are. Wouldn’t it be great if you looked at them across the table, sunlight falling across their face, and they smile at you, and you think to yourself, “I would like to spend every Sunday this way”? Yes. Yes it would.

7. Go To The Beach:

Take some music, towels, a big floppy sun-hat or two & enjoy the day. Build sandcastles, apply sunscreen lotion on one another and go swimming in the sea. End the day by travelling home together as the sun sets, all relaxed & happy.

8. Karaoke!

Karaoke, Karaoke, how I love you! It’s a great way to get to know someone and bring out the outgoing side of them. You’ll know how much they like a challenge and also what their music tastes are like. Who would say no to that!

9. Make A Video & Put It On Youtube:

You could really do anything & make a video of it, but it does at least give you a purpose and a goal. Plus, later on you have a record of what went on – that is, a slew of idiotic comments to wade through. Haha!
