K. Ravichandran, a 48-year-old auto driver from Chennai, mortgaged his auto to pay for the medical expenses of his passenger who suffered a cardiac arrest during the ride.

The incident occurred few months back, when a passenger boarded his auto to go from Ramapuram to Triplicane. Unfortunately, the passenger had to be admitted to a nearby hospital as he complained about chest pain during the commute. The passenger needed immediate medical help and his family was short of money to pay the medical expenses. Hence, Ravichandran mortgaged his auto and helped the family. He has also been rewarded by the Anna Auto Welfare Trust for this noble deed.
