Shankar Uthale

From being a cop who weighed around 92 kg once and then transforming himself to become India’s first constable ‘Ironman’ this story of Mumbai cop needs all sort of appreciation. It all started when Shankar Uthale, a head constable in the Mumbai police force who was considered as the force’s most unfit officer, decided to turn things around and lose some weight. He started his journey by waking up daily at 5:00 a.m. for his morning run. Also, he started participating in marathons and that’s when he became confident about himself and was introduced to the Ironman race. The Ironman race consists of a 3.9-kilometer swim, a 180-kilometer cycle ride, and a 42.1-kilometer run. This triathlon race needs to be completed in 17 hours and without a break. Shankar Uthale completed the race in 16 hours and 15 minutes and thus became India’s first constable to become an “Ironman’’
